Our Journey

Founded in 2006 by Kate Farmer – Counselling therapist & visionary, with a strong working background in domestic violence crisis support

We began with a dedicated group of volunteer counsellors and a passionate board of Trustees.

Together, we combined a team that possessed a wealth of experience and knowledge in the field of domestic abuse, from crisis support, refuge, social care, professional legal advice, and professional counselling.

In 2007 the National lottery ‘communities fund’ supported our work with victims and we became the lead domestic violence counselling service in Warwickshire.

From a passion to make a real difference to the lives of those disadvantaged by domestic violence/abuse during our early years as a charity, our founder developed a ground-breaking ‘one to one’ therapeutic intervention programme for perpetrators, developed from national and international models and training with national experts such as RESPECT – DVIP

In 2009 we were one of the first charities in the UK funded by the National Lottery to work with perpetrators on a ‘one to one’ basis. This was a successful free service that spanned 4 x years.

Valuable to our community – independently funded

With a strong dedicated team with a pioneering spirit and steadfast passion to help those disadvantaged in our community

In July 2018 we changed our charity legal name to ‘INSIGHT’ Counselling Coaching & Support Services (INSIGHT CCSS)

We made this change from evaluating our journey, and realised that from our vast experience of delivering quality counselling services to families suffering from domestic abuse, we had also supported our service users with many other additional issues, adapting and developing therapeutic programmes to make our service to them uniquely beneficial to their individual’s needs.

In recent years we have developed therapeutic programmes for those suffering from learning difficulty, Autism, Asperger’s, along with providing therapeutic support for couples/parents of children with special needs, impacted by relationship breakdown.

Our new charity name INSIGHT CCSS now reflects that we have grown, and we have widened our area of work, allowing us to help more people in our society in wider more varied areas of therapeutic need.

DACS is widely known and respected and our passion for domestic violence work to enable safer family life is unwavering.

DACS remains a valuable established service, that we proudly provide to our community, as a service provided by our charity INSIGHT CCSS

Funding our charity is highly competitive and an ever-changing landscape. We apply to a multitude of funders throughout each year to allow us to provide free services this means that some areas of Warwickshire may be periodically affected.
